FATHER OF LIES

Inspired by recorded memoirs, filmmaker Levi A. Taylor explores family demons by reenacting his father's campfire tale. Demons are real. They are very real. And their job is to destroy you.

UPDATE: Father of Lies was featured at Denver's 2017 EFPalooza Film Festival where producer, D.K. Johnston, represented the film for a spirited Q&A with the audience. The Emerging Filmmakers Project (EFP) has been showcasing the best of Denver's indie film scene since 2002.

STORY TIME

In 1991, young Jack Ryder, and his sister Hope, find themselves the audience to their father's cautionary tales of dwindling freedoms threatened by a New World Order.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:

In 2010, after my best friend John's tragic death, someone told me that John used to keep guns and a stash of cash in a safe "just in case things go to hell."  John was recognized by the N.S.A. for his
exemplary service in the United States military intelligence, and his "fallout stash" didn't strike me as overly paranoid. It seemed characteristically Alaskan - where we grew up thousands of miles from the America we watched on TV.

Even in Anchorage, the state's largest city, you grow to understand that if the infrastructure of modern industry were to fall, the natural elements here will kill you, if starvation doesn't first. And whoever controls industry, my dad would point out, therefor ultimately has the power of life and death if the infrastructure is your sole means to survive. The conquest for the New World Order, he'd warn, was the oldest war in the book. It is the fight to take over the world.

I produced Story Time after John died to process the roots of our shared distrust of the system, exploring the somewhat dysfunctional relationship I had with my father, a licensed pastor who believed in false flag conspiracies designed to terrify and mislead the public. "By the time we all wake up, it'll be too late," Dad would say, "America will fall. And we deserve it."  As crazy as my dad could be, now I look around at the state of our society and sometimes wonder if he could be right.

The Darkness

'What do you do when the light that keeps you going reminds you of what you fear the most?' MJ RYDER had the perfect home, husband BILLY RAY RYDER and little baby JACK, life was safe. Experience the thrill ride of emotions when the illusion of her world is blown up by a surprise discovery. What creates a monster, what experiences shape the mind of our future? The Darkness crosses the line and exposes the moments where doubt and fear creep in.

The Darkness is inspired by and co-written by Director Levi A. Taylor's mother, K.T. Froehlich. The mother and son writing team based the short script off K.T.'s diaries from when Levi was a baby and his father's demons emerged in their home. The resulting traumatic experiences perhaps contributed to Levi and K.T.'s shared perception that something was haunting their family.

Way Up North

Shot and produced entirely in South Central Alaska, 'Way Up North' stabs at the heart of classic gritty machoisms in a style as unique as Alaska itself. This modern western is as hard as the unforgiving world of the north and as eccentric as the characters who decide to dwell there.

Way Up North brings you into an impressionistic world of the north’s less talked about counter culture that has a history as wild as the tales of the old west. Told entirely through song and verse this larger than life, action/rock opera will have you tapping your feet to every unspeakable act and leave you grinning for more.
